Annapurna IV Expedition (7,525 m)—Climb Beyond The Crowds
Annapurna IV (7,525 m / 24,688 ft) is one of Nepal’s most spectacular yet less-traveled Himalayan peaks. Located in the Annapurna range, it rises beside Annapurna II and III, offering some of the finest views in the entire Himalaya. Unlike Everest, Ama Dablam, or Manaslu, Annapurna IV is less crowded, making it the perfect destination for climbers seeking a serious challenge in a quieter setting. With its steep ridges, icy faces, and mixed climbing terrain, Annapurna IV is both technically demanding and deeply rewarding.
This is not a climb for novices. Annapurna IV is a challenging 7000 m expedition designed for experienced climbers who already have high-altitude experience. To join this climb with Altitude Junkies, participants must have previously climbed with us on one of our technical 6000 m expeditions, such as Cholatse, Kyajo Ri, Ama Dablam, or Khumjungar Himal. These mountains provide the necessary foundation in technical skills, endurance, and teamwork that are essential before tackling Annapurna IV. We only accept climbers who have proven themselves on these peaks, ensuring the safety and strength of the team.
Why Annapurna IV Matters
Annapurna IV is more than just another mountain. It is the stepping stone to the 8000 m giants. The climb is designed to prepare you physically, technically, and mentally for the world’s highest mountains. Once you have successfully completed Annapurna IV with Altitude Junkies, you will be ready to take the next step toward Everest, Lhotse, Manaslu, or any of the other great 8000 m expeditions we organize.
At 7,525 m, Annapurna IV offers all the elements of an 8,000 m climb—long summit pushes, technical terrain, high camps, and the need for disciplined acclimatization—without the extreme duration and cost of an 8,000 m expedition. It is the perfect training ground for climbers with big Himalayan ambitions.
Expedition Experience
The route follows the classic Northwest Ridge. Climbers establish three high camps above Base Camp, tackling snow slopes, icy ridges, and mixed rock terrain on the way to the summit. The climb demands rope work, crampon use, and high-altitude stamina. Our Sherpa team—among the most experienced in Nepal—provides expert guidance, fixed lines, and support throughout the expedition.
At the summit, climbers are rewarded with breathtaking views of the Annapurna massif, Tilicho Peak, Manaslu, and even the Tibetan plateau. Few mountaineers worldwide have stood on Annapurna IV, making it a rare and prestigious achievement.
The Altitude Junkies Path
By choosing Annapurna IV with Altitude Junkies, you’re not only climbing a remarkable mountain—you’re committing to a structured path of progression. From 6000 m technical peaks to this essential 7000 m challenge, and finally onward to the 8000 m giants, we provide a proven system for climbers to reach their ultimate goals.
Annapurna IV is the bridge between ambition and achievement. If your dream is 14 peaks or climbing any 8000 m, then this is the climb that will prepare you for success.
